Why does your linen closet need to be appealing?

OP, did you really want slab doors? They are quite plain. Better pulls as acm suggests, also maybe painting it a less stark color, too?

You are right...it's the first thing I see when walking down the hall.

I'd trim it out with molding. Since the doors are flat, it's a fairly straightforward job. Choose a molding profile compatible with your home's existing millwork and then paint it all the same color. (You can do contrast, but I think it gives a much more pleasing, higher end look to let the millwork provide the interest.) If you do something like alittlemiracle's example with paper, you'd still have to apply molding to frame out the paper to get the right look.

There are lots of tutorials on how to do this. Just use a search string like "add trim to flat panel door." Some tutorials even show how to add trim with the doors hung in place, but it's much easier if you remove them. Since the doors do not appear to be hung exactly straight right now, you might as well just take them down for the project and then correct the misalignment when you rehang.

And yes, do swap out the pulls for something much more substantial--either longer, heftier pulls or something much more door-knobby in size.
