Hi! I posted a similar design dilemma for my little home and received some great advice from Home Interiors with Ease that we are following. We are going to paint our door Hale Navy and all our ugly dark brown trim and gutters Navajo White. Both are by Benjamin Moore.

I would think about painting the door a very light taupe or cream. Because it sits back in the alcove, and everything else on your house is dark, I think it would help place the focus back on the front door.

I like the color it is now. The only reason I can see you might want to paint it is to lighten it up a bit.

Thanks for the comments. I painted the doors turquoise before we ever even moved in because I was overwhelmed with all of the brown. Yes, it even came complete with dated brown shutters. I ripped those suckers off before we moved as well. I do like the turquoise but not on the sidelights. I feel like it's too much and looks cheap. What are your thoughts?

The windows appear to be a taupe color. You could use that, or a dull off white. If it were mine I'd use something like BM White Dove or a gray white like BM Collingwood. In time I would paint windows the same color. I really like the current door color.

The entrance is being diminished by plants in front of it . I cleaned it up a little.

Love love the last pic! I think I might do a bit lighter. But what about the sidelights?

I know! Haha. We are currently doing a landscape overhaul and those poor ferns have since been trimmed back and the pitiful bench is no longer on the porch.

I think landscaping may be the bigger issue and what you have you have on your porch. The chair with the planter on it is the exact same height as the bushes to the left of the front door. I think I would do an urn or pot on the porch/stoop floor to the right of the door. If you wind up using the black bench or chair/planter, I would not put those pieces on an angle.
