I have experienced the tip die back on numerous occasions and not sure if it is from drying back too much. Not had it before with well watered plants. I just recently went through mine and if any of the tips Had this and the branch below was soft or wrinkled. I cut them off to good clean tissue. Sealed w glue.

The one with the yellowing branches. Are the branches soft or is it just the color? How much light are they getting now? Should not have much to do with it.

Rick, Okay, glue for the tip, i will do that this weekend, the branches are not soft and that's not their color. It was greener when it arrived, about a month ago. It's the 4th one pictured, when they first arrived

As far as light, well they are in a west facing window. They get nice warm sun when it's sunny in the afternoon. Last 5 days it's been raining and rather dark. But the yellowing has been occurring.

Marie, do yours bounce back?

The glue will seal the end and hopefully stop moisture loss. Just make sure the tissue is completely clear of any beige marks or line within the cambium layer.

I see from photo that the branches are greener. The light should not be the issue. I would be tempted to loosen it and lift to check root area. Will not hurt it and best to see.

Rick, will I be removing all the dirt completely from the roots or just lifting and shaking it off gently? I will do that this weekend as well. I will post a picture at that time. Thank you!

Hello Alma. A couple of my plants have had the exact same issue after leaves falling off in autumn a while ago. The tips shrivelled, went brown and very pliable for about a 1cm. Following advise here, I cut back into healthy tissue and dried the end off. I didn't have a sealant, so just left them alone. The following spring all was well, they leafed out with even more new sprouts than ever forming on the cut ends. Have no idea what the cause was as nothing else appeared to be a problem. I hope yours do the same.

On checking the post about my bendy tips, it would appear that I did use cinnamon on the cut ends. I had to cut around 1 cm off each branch end and they went on to grow normally as mentioned. Here is a pic that I posted back in Jan 2013 when I had the issue, it's never happen again and does look remarkably similar to yours.

I just used a sterile scalpel,and cut back into fresh white tissue. If I need to remove a leaf or whatever, I just dab the open would with kitchen paper or similar, it soon stops the flow of sap and I've never had a problem with infection. This was as far as I recall, the only time I've used cinnamon...mainly because Ive rarely needed to cut branches

I have a few similar in appearance, Alma. The tips are hard and dry on mine and I am going to leave them, unless I see noticeable softening and/or shriveling below.

Okay, I just snipped again and put wood glue on the tips. But I will do as you, from this point. The other 2 that came with this one are starting to bud out(super slow) a cple leaves.

Good to know. I had some cuttings do this so I was probably under watering those to. I'll keep this in mind. Good thread, thanks.
