Update on using CB to draw worms

last modified: 9 years ago

So i have an oyster shell driveway from lots of part time shucking. Over time, weeds grew between the shells, causing me vexation. My solution was to cover the drive with CB for several months, and my theory was that this would both kill weeds and draw worms. The results are in, and it worked better than i imagined. Peeling up the partially rotted CB, i found that all soil there had become black as night (become castings). On top of this, it seems that the worms which came ate at least half of the oyster shells. A pecan tree resides next to this drive, and its nuts look fat and plentiful this year. I post this so that others can learn from my trial. One can enrich ground simply by laying CB for a month or two. If anyone wants, i can post a pic tomorrow when I'm off work. Happy worming!
