I spent a long time deciding that too. I think it's really personal. I ended up using all pulls in the kitchen and all knobs in the bathrooms. I know a lot of people use pulls for drawers and knobs for doors. Personally I prefer pulls in kitchen because I want to be able to open anything with a pinky if my hands are dirty from food prep. It's much easier for me to operate a pull with a pinky than a knob.

There is also a price difference. Knobs are usually cheaper. So If you do a mix of knobs and pulls, you can probably get nicer stuff for the same budget than all pulls, but more expensive than all knobs.

I think it is. It's an extra detail that doesn't take much effort but comes off as a custom upgrade. I would always recommend it and do that in all of my projects!

I would even suggest trying two different finishes if you're brave - like brass and matte black!

Mixing makes for a more interesting look and I used straight handles on cupboards and cupped ones on drawers. Home Depot sells certain styles in a pack of 10 or 12 and it really saves money. Your best bet is to bring home a few samples and have your family hold them up in a few areas, so you can get a feel of the look you want.

You could buy and install a small amount of mixed hardware and see what you think. If it's not right, return it.
