Dendrobium keikis help

Hey guys. Another question here! A few weeks ago I asked what these growths were on my dendrobium. I quickly learned they were keikis! My first keikis! One of the stems the keikis grew off has turned completely yellow. Do I need to cut anything so the plant can use its energy on the important parts of the plant? Also, today I noticed these tan things in the pot that almost look like some sort of insect. Gross! Any ideas what this is?

The insects I am speaking about is that cluster of things on the rim of the container. There seems to be two "groups" of them.

I'm sorry I can't tell what the Custer is. Regarding the keikis, congratulations! The two at the tip of the brown cane are no longer being supported by the mother plant. No point in leaving them there. Cut the brown cane below the keikis and put them in their own pot. The one at the base of the green cane can be left as is or removed but, I would not cut the green cane as it is supporting the parent plant.

Thank thank you!! Should I separate the two keikis as well as snipping them from the brown stem?

The two keikis look very close together. You can separate them and pot them up separate. I know plenty growers who would and they have no problems. I, on the other hand, am notoriously clumsy. (LOL) To be safe, I cut the old cane well away from the young plants and their roots and put them, together and still attached to the old piece of cane, into their new home. Minimum oops chances! But, that's just me.
