Phalaenopsis watering question,

last modified: 9 years ago

I am babysitting three phalaenopis orchids while their parents are away for the winter. From what I have read so far, they need excellent drainage but the pots they are in do not have holes and do not have one of those plastic insert pots. Do I just water a little bit at a time? Last time I watered I held the soil in with my hand and dumped the excess, which I'm sure can't be the right thing to do. I really wouldn't want them to die on my watch!
