Whatever the reason Gonz, the end result makes an interesting conversation topic and it's a well marked albo-marginated plant which is one I'm still trying to get hold of.

Dave - Yes it is one of the many different types of variegated fasciatas. and is known as an albo-marginated plant (albo-marginated = white leaf margins). I have found that like most variegated brom's my variegated fasciatas are a bit unstable and sometimes vary in leaf pattern with each successive pup.

As well as this I've also found they are slower to grow than the normal species and are more cold sensitive (at least here where I live anyway).

I have a couple of other different coloured fasciatas which I've picked up from markets over the years namely Ae. var. purpurea and another which had the name of Ae. fasciata rubra.

The attraction with these is the contrast with the pale pink inflorescence against the darker foliage and this is what attracted me to them in the first place.

Finally, these are a couple of pups that show a pinkish cast in the foliage colour, more so with the top one than the lower one. These were produced after the Mother plant was severely damaged by cold during a bad winter we had and subsequently died just leaving these to spindly pups. They have maintained the colour for a year but still haven't grown much, so it's a wait and see exercise.
