The tile is throughout so why not pull a medium brown from the tile that coordinates with the fireplace and paint just the fireplace wall. That door should be painted the same color as the trim as well.

The fireplace bothers me more than the tile ( which can be largely covered with a rug).

Ceramic tile can be painted. I don't know anything about the cost or process, I just know it can be done. Google is your friend!

I'd get a huge rug or FLOR tiles to cover the floor, then paint the walls a warm off white and the trim a white white and decorate with lots of plants, wood, and color. The brick on the fireplace just looks dirty to me. Try cleaning it (not sure how to clean brick, but again Google is your friend).

This white is nice as is the navy of you were looking for a darker complementing color.

i would not worry about floor tile, just treat it like wood. it has many of those colors. I adore your couch, let me see about a rug.

If you didn't say you hated the tile, I wouldn't notice anything wrong with it. Add some crown moulding, some wall art, area rug perhaps and you will forget all about that tile.

A redhead might wear the rug-color of moss/mustard/avo. --- but with a few pieces, you could have your rug and seating. Could art tie it in? and hammered metal lamp, and other simple additions.....

I liked the posted ones beautifully textured neutrals ... but if you want your rug to 'show' more, yours would... such a strong muted color, that I'd tone down chandelier to a pewter/ charcoal....

If a neutral rug, maybe you want the stark black as contrast.
