Hi, You might consider painting the trim that runs horizontally between the white siding and the brick a darker colour to match the shutters, also perhaps the peak portion of the entry. This will emphasize the horizontal more and might elongate the house a bit with minimal cost. I would not paint the stone, I think that will make it look even more like a square box.

I think the house is cute. I think adding a pergola over the garage would give some dimension;)

The usual way is a small tree grown off to the side of the house to soften that wall.

I wouldn't buy the house though, I don't like the clean out in what would be a lawn area. It is ugly and a tripping hazard.

That house is a dream! I love it. Using the suggestions above will enhance it. As an aside, if you could see the $1.5 M 1934 unremodeled house my daughter and her husband are living in in San Francisco, you would run screaming. Your kids are fortunate to get their hands on such a nice home!

The sewer clean out near the curb or street is located in a most convenient location. It is better there than how they used to do it. You can easily disguise the white pipe with some plants around it. That would not concern me the least.
The house is cute the way it is. I would not paint the stone or anything else..... it looks like a new home!

The stone is the best part. I would not paint it.

Perhaps make the driveway less "straight forward" and add some curvature to the space. That might make the house look more dimensional.

A stamped concrete driveway with a matching curved path to the door would help along with a lot of landscape - just pull the beds away from the house - like 6 feet.

No paint on stone!!! Landscaping is all it needs with some nice hardscape. I like the house. Concur with mcbmd3's comment, you don't even want to know what a house like this would cost where I live :)

Thanks you everyone for such helpful advice! I, too, think that foundation planting with fill in and really cover most of the stone. I also think wider shutters would be more to scale. If anyone is super handy with photo shop, we would so appreciate putting some of the suggestions for a visual. Thanks again!

Not sure why you think the stone is the/a problem. It's the nicest part of the facade from my perspective. If I bought this home I'd be looking at paint colors for the siding/trim that better relate to the stone and that will integrate the garage doors. A more cohesive color would go a long way towards curb appeal. I'm not seeing any issues with either the stone or 'boxiness' of the structure. The cleanout can be disguised with some simple planting. It's a beautiful home.

It would be really helpful for me if you explained why you don't like the stone.

I personally like the stone. It is my son and daughter in law's first home and the stone is not their favorite feature. Loving the outside as well as the inside of is very important to them.the problem with new construction is that without all the "accessories," sometimes a house looks undressed.
