So I planted my amaryllis seeds that I collected from back in the spring using both the water method and planting seeds straight in miracle grow potting soil. Never ever will I use the water method again. I had trouble with mold even after putting hydrogen peroxide in the water and changing the water out once a week. I did see signs of life developing from the water method first but only because the seeds in the potting soil was thinly covered with dirt. After a few weeks the seeds i planted straight in the potting soil outperformed the ones I put in the water container. Today I just went ahead and put all the seeds that were in the water into window boxes. It was a more complicated job and more work using the water method than going ahead and putting seeds straight into potting soil! Lesson learned!
