I've had both porcelain over cast iron and stainless steel kitchen sinks. I now have a Blanco silgranite which beats both previous sinks hands down.

Sorry IMO stainless is still the best sink material for longevity

I've been in the solid surface business for twenty years and have never seen a "Corian above-mount double sink".

It may be another brand but it is definitely a solid surface double sink, I should have used term top mounted however.!

Penny wise and pound foolish. Stainless undermount is the way to go. Get over your hate in favor of function.

I don't understand why anyone would have granite or quartz countertops with an overmount sink of any type. An undermount sink is so much easier to clean around and gives a better look imo.

Joseph, Correction... oops.it is a top mount, not an above-mount solid surface sink. I used the wrong term. Thanks for your comment.

Sophie, Because we are doing this to sell the house I may indeed go for stainless. I have had it before and it is a pain to clean so I don't think it functions well, but it will not be me cleaning it!

The reason stainless is used in every restaurant is that it is easy to clean so not really sure why you would have so much trouble

most people are expecting a stainless sink, and most of those people could well prefer it. i'd go with stainless just because its the vanilla choice, why put some people's nose out of joint by offering them pistachio.

Thanks everyone for your candid comments. Stainless undermount it will be. Would love a farm sink but will save that for the redo of the condo that we'll be living in full-time after we sell this place.

We have Blanco Siligranite in out kitchen and laundrey room and love them. They do not stain, scratch and easy to maintain.

We are remodeling our kitchen, replacing our Corian countertops and sink (which have been great for 25 years). We are considering a Franke stainless steel sink, but I wonder if the nickel content in the stainless would aggravate my nickel allergy. My practice is to wash dishes in hot soapy water in the sink. Does anyone have any experience with nickel allergies and stainless steel sinks?
