I keep seeing a particular plant at the moment in unkempt fields, which has turned brown since the start of autumn. I wonder if anyone knows the one I mean and can tell me its binomial name. The fields can be a little marshy sometimes and there's usually also some Juncus effusus scattered around too and then lots of these brown dying plants (maybe in general around a metre or less tall). I've also seen it in unkempt land that is not marshy at all. So it seems to grow everywhere and anywhere.
