Sounds like it is dead. What should have happened is it made replacement rosettes from beneath the flowered rosette, which actually does shrivel and collapse normally after flowering. There is a slowly creeping rootstock that forms and replaces leaf rosettes on a recurring cycle throughout the life of the plant. In the wild it would be crawling over the surface of a tree branch or maybe a rock.

If you try anymore of these the "tanks" at the leaf bases need to be kept filled with clean water. In the rain forest tank bromeliads like this have their own little ecosystems living in the tanks. These are excellent habitats for mosquitoes for instance, which can breed in the bromeliads without being exposed to the hazards present in larger bodies of water.

National Geographic magazine I think it was once had an article about the little worlds in tank bromeliads.

I wouldn't sweat it as Guzmanias are raised by the millions for their blooms. Easier to go out , buy a new one, then follow basic terrestrial bromeliad care.
