I have never been able to root this out flat... but I only tried it laid out over potting mix. i have had some success in miracle grow perlite, but the easiest rooting ever was in damp spaghnum moss.

the cuttings are almost dead. some dried up some rotted.. In the same pot. I don't know.

You should use more free draining soil next time.

It isn't difficult at all. Prefers high warmth and humidity. I water mine every 2 weeks, as it likes it drier. That being said, it gets misted twice daily with a very fine spray because it loves the humidity boost.

In the summer, I put it outside under the shade cloth and water more frequently, weekly, as our warm months get quite hot.

It prefers bright, indirect sun and thrives under artificial light.

Oh, and remove it from the soil it is in. That crap retains far too much moisture, assuming it is an EA basket. It needs a fast draining media, like a 50/50 mix of perlite and orchid bark (easy) or 30% long fiber new zealand sphag moss, 30% perlite and 40% 1/4 inch orchid bark (what mine is in). Most hoyas don't tend to do well in soil and will show signs of decline. Be sure to soak your mix overnight and rinse well before use.

Just rinse and get as much of the soil off as possible (I can get around 97% off by soaking the rootball in warm water for 10 minutes and then gently teasing/combing it off with my fingers while running warm water over the rootball at the same time). Repot in your new mix, water, and watch. Repotting may cause the plant to sulk for a bit, but it should quickly recover. Be sure to wait 2 weeks before watering again, as you have given it a nice gulp when you teased the soil off.
