a few questions..

by shower walls: to you mean the wall tile, or glass surround on the shower?

by 'curtains', do you mean drapery panels?

if you are using window curtains for shower curtains on the outside of a glass surround... then no problem.

if you are using window curtains (with a water proof liner) as a shower curtain, you probably want a foot at the top for steam to easily escape and the shower to dry...

if you are using window curtains (even with a liner) they might get mildewy a bit, shower curtains, even the fabric ones, are a different sort of fabric in a quick dry weave.

I have seen in designer homes, where the curtains go from ceiling to floor, and it makes a very nice look. However, I would suggest a normal height shower curtain behind them, for ease of sliding back and forth. Also, unless you have a light above your shower, a floor to ceiling curtain will block out all light.

Just make sure the shower curtain is long enough to tuck inside the tub or shower surrround....that should show you the height needed.
