Wall mounted toilets are too high

I just moved in to my new condo, and just discovered that all 3 wall mounted toilets are roughly 6 inches too high. There's no need to replace the toilets themselves, but I'd love to lower them a bit. Anyone have a ballpark idea of what we could expect price-wise? What kind of work is involved?

Where are you located? What is the material surrounding the toilet -- e.g., painted wall or tile? Those are the minimum pieces of information we'd need to take a stab at cost. As for work, you're looking at opening the wall, adjusting the waste pipe and connections to be lower (chunk of plumber time), closing up wall and repairing surface (chunk of carpenter/handyman time). If there's tile, everything gets way more complex...

Located in DC. Only 1 of the 3 is surrounded in tile, but the one that does is on a skinny wall (powder room), and would be happy to part with the tile if that simplified the process. Thanks for the info!
