I got two jumbo bulbs from John Scheepers (Red Pearl & Splash) and a bunch of medium to small ones from Blooming Bulb (Miracle, Naranja, Alfresco, Blossom Peacock, Christmas Star, Hot Lips, and Joker). Then my mother in law wanted Elvas, so I got a bag of 3 of those from van Bourgondien. I should have 2 more coming from Blooming Bulb, to replace a bad one and one that they couldn't send.

This is my first year growing hippies, so these cultivars are all new to me. I've actually never seen a hippie bloom in real life! Most of the bulbs are showing growth, with one flower scape well on its way. I'll post pictures when things bloom. It's very exciting!

Wow!! Are you in for an exciting time!! Make sure when Blossom Peacock and Splash bloom that you give them a good sniff, they are both quite fragrant!! There might be some others too!! We look forward to all your pictures!!

There are far too many beautiful varieties, my collection is growing! I bought Ambiance in a local flower shop because after admiring it as a cutflower for a week I simply had to. I already received this years main order from a Dutch company containing Amore (never heard of it before), Amputo, Pyjama Party, Daphne, Temptation and Bogota and Gervaise as Christmas gifts for familiy members.

Still waiting for Royal Colors to reply...

Here are some pics from my ongoing first season of blooms. Happy New Year everyone, and happy amaryllises!

Alfresco. Very slight fragrance. But what form!

Molto Bello. Serenely beautiful. I love the green heart that bleeds gradually out. This and Alfresco show wonderfully well in the dim light of our home. I want to get two or three more of these and put them together for an amazing display.

Joker. This bloomed just 4 weeks after planting. A very beautiful bloom, but the scape flopped and had to be cut down. I've since learned to stake these things!

Splash made quite a splash, but then Red Pearl towered into bloom and put it rather in the shade! Red Pearl's scape flopped though, and the dark red, while stunning, needed a spotlight on it to do it justice. Over all I'm more happy with Splash, which is well proportioned, has a wonderful peppery fragrance, and shows better in a room with average light. Red Pearl needs to be quarantined!

Your flowers are beautiful, I especially love your Splash!! I had one for a few years and the flowers were lovely and the scent made it very special. Another year I will replace mine.

Your Joker is lovely too, another that I will try again next year!! As for Red Pearl, I've always had great luck with this lovely bulb, coming back strong year after year, gorgeous!!

Donna, I agree, Splash is just beautiful. The strong peppery fragrance is magical. Blossom Peacock's too. I wonder, does anyone collect only amaryllises that are scented?

I also ordered an Alfresco this year. Bulb sent up 4 scapes, all but one scape was loaded with 3 or 4 blooms each.

@patriciag_acfsc That is quite a show! I loved Alfresco, but it disappointed me somewhat in that the thin scapes only produced 2 or 3 good flowers, which nodded considerably. Then again I didn't get a very nice bulb. Next year I think I'll splurge for a more expensive bulb and hopefully it'll put on a show like yours. That's just beautiful!

Did any of you guys buy Napoli??

I received a Red Lion Amaryllis from my daughter this Christmas. Just got it set up, and it is showing a bit of green now. Any advice for growing it would be appreciated.
