If an appliance company website refuses to mention where their products are made and refuses to give you a global headquarters address take a wild guess where their appliances are made and where their HQ is located.

Where a company is incorporated is irrelevant to who owns it and where the functional headquarters are located.

Is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles an Italian or American Company ?

FCA is incorporated in The Netherlands and domiciled in the United Kingdom for tax purposes but all senior executives live in suburban Detroit. And the CEO is an Italian national.

Making the name of your company sound like a region or city in Italy has no bearing to where their products are made. If the appliances were made in Italy the company would shout from the rooftops their products were made in Italy. If the products were made in Eastern Europe I am almost equally certain they would say their products were made in Europe.

@jwvideo- thank you for your response. As you might have guessed, I've seen the appliances at the Costco website. They do not carry them in my closest Costco location, so I cannot really judge their quality. The few reviews on the Costco website are very good, but you just never know why people put those reviews out there. Some of them have disclaimers that they are comments made during some type of promotional, so I'm disinclined to trust those completely. I would really like to hear from folks here who have first hand experience with the Ancona products, especially their electric ovens & cooktops. I will try contacting Costco to learn where they are made & will post any response I receive.

I think I've tracked down some more information on where Ancona appliances may come from.

BTW, the Ancona-based appliance manufacturer I was thinking of was Fratelli Onofri rather than Indesit. FO was a subsidiary of the Italian multi-national, Terim, a competitor of Indesit. Terim no longer has factories in Ancona but Indesit still does.

Up through 2012, FO made ranges, cooktops and ovens in Ancona. Italy. Those products seemed nearly identical to the current Ancona branded products. FO also did subcontract work for various others brands apparently including Fagor, Indesit, Whirlpool, Siemens, Electrolux, DeLonghi and IKEA. (This also comes from remembering threads here going back to the mid-2000s.)

In 2012, Terim bankrupted FO and moved production of the ranges, hobs and wall ovens to its Turkish subsidiary called Anakonda. (Maybe that is Italy's equivalent to moving production from Detroit to Mexico?) While Terim's website's products page (linked here) says the ranges, hobs and ovens are "direct from Italy," the main profile page says the production is by Anakonda in Turkey. Maybe its like the "Italian olive oils" which are oils from a lot of other places that get sold by Italian companies?

I also found (which will amuse deeagaux) that at least some "Fratelli Onofri" wall ovens are now being made under contract by the Hafeng group in Zongshan, China. That info comes via China's Ali Baba search engine. See this link.

What will further amuse deeagaux is this complaint on the Consumer Products Safety Commission website which shows that the name of the Ancona brand owner, AMS, Inc., stands for "Asia Marketing Solutions."

To add further confusion, there is an Illinois based company that is also called AMS, Inc., which imports and distributes farm implements for various European manufacturers.

In searching past threads here, I found several postings asking questions about the Ancona branded hoods and ranges, but practically nothing from anybody who actually owned one.

This is very interesting. I seem to remember that FO ovens of the Italian era were fairly well regarded.

Therein lies a dilemma.

Much as the NXR/Kucht/Thor stoves are knock-offs of the late 80's Wolf residential ranges and ovens (even to the point of using the same component suppliers), the Ancona appliances might replicate the old Fratelli Onofri ranges, cooktops and ovens. Then, they might be good deals. BUT if, as deeageaux fears (and perhaps rightly so) they are knock-offs in looks only (all form and little worthy substance), they may be the worst kind of bad deal.

I am again reminded that a little knowledge can make one paranoid. Feeling like the kind of pundit from whom we have already heard way too much over the week before the election, I (like clusher) am hoping that we can hear from actual owners.

Yes, well, we've been bumping it up plenty, but more people come here before they buy, and if they come after it's because they have a big problem. The ones who hang around aren't usually the Costco buyers. Maybe search the forum to see if any said they were intending to buy, and send them a private message to ask for feedback. If they have it turned on, they'll get a notice in their e-mails, so will see it if they don't check back here.

My advise is not to buy Appliances mad by ANCONA.

Consumers should know that we should not purchase Electronics from COSTCO. This is a big fraud. I bought a Ancona Gas Range 36" stove from COSTCO 2 years ago for $2000, as soon as the 2 years was up the stove started shorting out, caught on fire. I called Costco Costco Concierge Services Technical Support.... 1-866-861-0450 spoke to Ada who was very hostile and was repeating over and over that I have to pay for all repairs or parts; I asked for a list of repair companies, said she had none or knew of any. In short she was telling me that I'm on my own and Costco don't give a damn.

Looking to buy Costco hood fan, Ancona, I haven’t chosen a model yet. Anyone have further input re where it is made.

Dont buy it ,i just worked for them and more then half there stuff is no good and wont last,this is out of the mouths of the 2 technicians that repair all of the returns and there are a tonne of

Ancona just moved from cunard in laval to procam which is a rental space, ive seen what these ranges are made of and its not very complicated as all of the items are made in china . Run far

I bought AN-2201 36 inch electric cook range in May 2018 from Costco. After 2.5 years, the internal oven cooling fan is keeping running for 4+ days. Guess the thermostat or cut off switch is broken. I asked couple local appliance repair shop in California bay area, none of them heard about Ancona brand. I’ve had an Ancona range hood for around 3 yrs purchased from Costco .. we don’t use it every day but so far it’s working great for me

I purchased the Ancona 36" eletectric range initially around 7 years ago from Costco to replace a 40 year old electric range. After owning for approx. 3 years the oven stopped working. I eventually got in contact with Ancona in Canada and expressed that the oven stopped working. With no hassle or hesitation they asked for my information and sent a new one. On schedule 3 years later the oven stopped working again. The particular part that fails is sold on their website and is always in and out of stock which leads me to believe it is faulty. The knob that controls temperature of oven shorts leaving the oven inoperable, I had a trusted electrician look at stove/range he suggested not getting another replacement and find a different brand. None of the local appliance shops have heard of Ancona and the odd connectors used to connect the knob assembly are unfamiliar to them. I have purchased the replacement part but am unable to find the burned out electrical connectors needed to connect replacement part.

Run far, run fast from Ancona ranges. Hood is fine but the ranges are total expensive garbage. I had so many issues with mine... 1-Kept zeroing the time (Ancona sent me a new timer board. I've replaced it myself. After a while, same issue with the replaced timer board), 2= The door handle connection broke (I ductaped it. They have no parts on their website), 3- Only the upper heating element is working. All other 4 elements don't work. STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOUR MONEY.

DO NOT BUY ANCONA RANGES! Oven stopped working after less than 6 months. Company will not return phone calls. When we do get to speak with somebody they hang up on us the moment we tell them the problem with the oven.

I have an Ancona duel fuel range. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get service for it. NO ONE responds. Purchased from Costco, they want nothing to do with it.

Customer service is disgusting, the people on email or phone are rude.The lights burned out on my hood range, I went on line and out of stock, I emailed May 2023, I kept emailing and phoneing when in stock, rude answers. 10 months later I went to my local Home hardware and got the replacements, I will never buy an Ancona product again.

I too had a problem with my oven. It quit warming and it took a long time to get the correct parts. Finally hit it working but temperature still not accurate. It’s gets much hotter than the temperature u set! thought sine it was Costco it would be good. It’s not cheap but not worth the hassle NEVER BUY ANCONA! I am surprises they still carry them.

stay away, price and made in Italy is attractive but these are very poor quality ranges, we have had many issues that are not fixable

I had the same problem. I never got it complete fixed but at least I can get the oven on. Had to by an inside thermometer to see actual heat! Worst stove I ever had and will never buy another!
