Recently bought a fixer-upper home. Pic below. The blacktop driveway is almost up to the house in the front. Awful bushes planted at the porch and junky ground covering under the window (on the right). We will be yanking out everything.

Looking for suggestions on what to replace the stuff with. I don't want something tall enough to block the window at the porch. I also want to keep color year-round, so evergreens are my first choice.

I thought about holly bushes. My husband says they will get too tall - isn't there a dwarf holly which would be evergreen?

Any suggestions?
