Hello, fellow gardeners of New Jersey. As we lay our gardens to rest until spring, I thought it would be nice to intoduce ourselves and our gardens. My gardens are located in South Jersey on a 1/2 acre lot.

I aim for a cottage garden look. I am new to this site, but have been gardening on this property for 23 years. I love seeing other people's gardens and welcoming others in to mine. I see that years ago, NJ based get togethers and plant swaps were held. Perhaps, others here now would be interested in such an event come spring.

Just came across this thread!! I am in the Raritan/Bridgewater area on a small 0.2 acre lot on a hill. We have a vegetable garden, small pond, pigeon coop, shrub row, many Hosta, some daylilies, pawpaw trees, flowers etc. Nice to see other NJ plant people!

We have a garden visit/potluck twice a year (spring & fall) at our garden in Willingboro. There are about a hundred camellias and mid April is our Camellia festival. Fall is Crapes, Colocasias, etc. Also perennials, woodies, cold-tolerant palms. Email me if you want to be on the email list. stevenj7a@verizon.net

Hi, my name Sara. We moved to Middletown nj a couple of years ago, on a half acre as well. We set up a good size vegetable garden, a cut flower garden, a raspberry and blackberry patch and planted a few fruit tree. And ah yes, we built a chicken coop in early summer and got a bunch of chicks. We just started to get eggs a few days ago, it's amazing.

Hello! We just moved from NYC to Jersey City and my major requisite was that we have a balcony big enough for some substantive container gardening! Very excited to dive in this spring. I'd also love to get to know green thumbs in the area. Thanks for the intro thread!

I am in central nj near Trenton, we have about a quarter acre backyard. Right now I have five 4x4 veggie beds and a few scattered bushes but I am working on planning a garden, just don't know how to start lol

Sara, chickens are on my bucket list. Are they laying eggs yet?

Woodland, I bet your paw paws attract lots of butterflies. i would love to add some to my gardens.

Princess, I find vegetable gardening much more involved than perennials. Jersey tomatoes are the best!

PineBarrenGardener, yes, my girls started to lay in December and January. Christmas gifts to us! Now, we get half dozen eggs everyday! I can't give them away soon enough.

lets welcome in spring tomorrow and hope those white stuff on the lawn magically melts away...

Oh, shp123, so happy your chickens are laying. A wonderful Christmas gift! I spent a few hours wandering at Longwood Gardens today. I am getting anxious to get in the gardens and do hope this snow is soon melted!
