Mint and Tulips

Greeting,,

Long time reader first time poste..

So I'm on the border of WI/MN in the Hudson WI area. I've been growing Tulips for some time and I, like many others lose them to Pocket Gophers and the such. Ive been planting different Mints in proximity to my other flower beds to deter the little b**#*#*#**ds with good luck and am wondering if anyone can offer insight in whether or not Mint will prevent Tulips form their spring blossoming. I have a south facing ditch line that screamed Tulips in the grass to me many years ago. So for some time now I've been maintaining a Tulip spread in the ditch. Once they are finished in the spring I just mow it like any other part of the lawn. My thoughts where to overrun the ditch with Mint to deter pests and form natural self sustaining environment that doesn' need mowing either. The mint won't travel as the it is landlocked so to speak with the road, drives on bit he ends a lilac hedge.. ....

Any thoughts!
