Poor kitchen layout

Our kitchen layout is one of the worst features in our home. The refrigerator and oven in particular are far too close. Certainly, not my ideal layout or design. What you you recommend as far a reconfiguring the kitchen layout?

Put the refrigerator where the oven is, oven under the second window and turn the fridge space into a large pantry maybe

So, you're wanting to rip everything out and start over? You need a KD. And be willing to move plumbing and electrical and have quite a healthy budget to do the project.

Put the stove under the other window. Which might mean nixing your peninsula. But you have an island, so I'd make that bigger.

    What is beyond the door?

Yes your kitchen is poorly planned - whether you can remove what you have and re-use it, add to it is a question for your contractor. I thought I had a bad kitchen layout before my gut - but this beats out my mess! One thing, it is a gorgeous kitchen aesthetically.

No way can she do this for 20K. The cabinets will cost more than that.

    That's a 100K change.

You might be able to get away with turning the refrigerator so it faces the island, then use the space left over behind it for pantry space. I don't how much room there is right there, but I think that would help the layout quite a bit without reconfiguring everything. Moving the stove would also help a lot. If you could move the stove without ripping out the rest of the cabinets, you could add pantry cabinets where it used to be and possibly save money there. No idea if that possible though.

The door leads to a very large panty- which I also use for appliances.
I like the idea of enlarging the island and extending the cabinets down while removing the peninsula. I don't initially like the range being below a window, but it could work- just thinking it would have to be proportional. We can reuse all appliances, and we're hoping to be around 60-70 for the remodel.

Thanks for the feedback. Moving the fridge and possibly changing the backsplash/flooring could be a really good second option and not nearly as costly.

Also, because this was a flip property everything is basically new. If we decide to fully redo, can counters and cabinets be save for someone else to reuse?

Yes they can and i would do that for sure this kitchen may be new but dated beyond belief . A good kitchen designer could do marvels with the space IMO those ceiling height cabinets take what could have been a beautiful wall and ruined it those windows should not have cabinets around them at all, that storage you lose there can be easily handled by a proper use of this space .

We have a habitat for humanity store that would take your entire kitchen off your hands gladly and you get the benefit of the tax deduction. Be sure to have your contractor give you a value of the cabinets before donation.
