Just be aware that they can be invasive in warmer climates, seeding into gardens and wild areas in an unrestrained fashion. You may want to check how they behave in your area, or plan to cut them back soon enough after bloom to prevent seed ripening. It isn't an issue this far north since the seed hasn't enough time to ripen since they are a late summer bloomer.

Yes, I marveled (in a bad way) at the sweet autumn clematis overrunning the parks here (and surrounding woodland)...over whole trees in some cases.

Are you sure it is SAC you are seeing? It is not listed as invasive in AR (although it is in some surrounding areas). It is very easily mistaken for a native species, Clematis virginiana, which is widespread almost across the country and has an almost identical bloom appearance, timing and scent. And an equally vigorous and robust nature (20+ feet!!).
