A mirror not above a sink may look weird. It really depends on the space. I would stick with a larger mirror, but framed in.

Any specific reason why you're not adding two sinks?

As long as they are arranged so that one is over the sink and they are also center over the vanity together, so doesn't look strange on the wall, it should be fine. Is that possible? I would do one 36" mirror, myself.

A hanging framed mirror would go over the tile. I think it will look off with two mirrors on such a small vanity. A few pics.

Can you do one long rectangular mirror to fit over the entire area? Forty-eight inches is not really a big area to fit in 2 good size viewing mirrors. I think your mirrors would end up being a bit small to fit 2 and look good (?). Take some paper or cardboard and play around with mock-ups first to get an idea.

Counter space may be more useful, but what about when they're older and trying to get ready at the same time? I would much prefer two sinks than sink and counter. Think about what you would prefer if you shared a bathroom.

Truthfully growing up with 4 kids in my family, 2 sinks were much better, I would rethink 1 sink. When the kids are getting ready for school and trying to brush their teeth, or if they are teen girls trying to put on makeup. Two sinks would be much, much better!

We chose to do a single sink larger 80" vanity in our master bathroom. We've had two sinks before. It was just more to clean. None of my (7) kids need a sink to themselves. They do need mirror and counter space, however. I see where you're coming from, Devona. I personally think a second sink is a waste of good counter space. But I would definitely do a larger mirror.

My personal preference is for a very large mirror, all the way from the vanity top to maybe 6" from the ceiling or all the way up, and the entire width of the vanity. Here's an example with a long vanity and one off-center sink.
