I'd agree with getting a larger rug, I personally like the first one. And it looks like you are trending towards a more mid-century modern look. Some lighting ideas bellow.

This means you would suggest no carpet under dining table?

I like rugs 2&3, but not sure colors fit & as the curtains have pattern should the carpet not have less apparent patterns?
Also is it better to place carpet in vertical orientation or horizontal? The entrance is from the dining table side. In current picture the carpet is placed along room length & not along the furniture rectangular shape (would it look ok?)

Love that first rug! Adds some nice depth to an otherwise light room. You need something to ground all the light colors. Pattern is fine on the rug. Orient the rug with the furniture, not the room, so it creates a zone. The rug in the dining room is too small. The chairs should stay all the way on the rug when you are sitting in them.

I would also put a console under your television, if for no other reason than to hide the cords. It just feels like it's hangin' there on a blank wall.

Hi Emily, Thanks for advice. It is my preference to keep it light & clean under TV. All The cords are hidden nicely - inspiration from Scandinavia. Simply can't get over it ;) looks better in real vs photo.

I love the Scandinavian style as well. I like the last image posted. I think a darker, bold color will really bring everything together and that rug has a simple pattern that would go well with your drapes.
