If you have the patience and are willing to take it on as a spring project then I say definitely go for it. We painted our kitchen cabinets a couple years ago and they turned out great. We used a paint called Caninet Coat and used Benjamin Moore Simply White and now, 3 years later, there is a little bit of wear behind the handles, but it still looks good and no regrets. All white kit is clean looking and updated we have painted cabinets white and then put a stain glaze over it you can use as much of the stain as you want I was looking at the stove it looks like there is ss as a back splash if you want color you can always add a framed back splash
