Does anyone have any input? Should I just do the black on all the counters? I'm worried that will not look good with the gray

I love the Taj Mahal. If it was my kitchen, I'd put that everywhere. If you are worried about the yellow, can you look for other slabs? There tends to be a lot of variation.

I've seen several slabs of the Taj Mahal but they all do seem to have that beige tone. It's so pretty though! It's just not exactly marble with that beautiful white look

Thank you for the images! It is my understanding that the more white quartzites are more of a mix of marble/ quartzite. Is this true? That they are more susceptible to etching

Your Taj Mahal does look yellowish - when installed with your floors, it will be even warmer. The lighting you install will affect the color as well. If you don't want that warm look, go with one of the quartz tops Emily has shown you - or better yet, go to your retailer and explain your concern. They will know best how to address your concerns.

Just my 2 bits IMO you either have a different colored island and all the same counter or a different counter on the island and all the same colored cabinets but not both and FYI quartzite etches and stains like marble I would do quartz and relax

I would suggest quartz as well.. I have Torquay by Cambria. No maintenance! Similar to your floor, with chocolate cabinet.

I would skip the black countertop. Use the same on all areas.

Patricia Colwell Consulting: your information is incorrect: a true quartzite can Not etch under acid solutions simply because it is not calcium carbonate based.... very wrong information.

Marble came from limestone (calcium carbonate based, bones and shells of oysters and clams deposited on the seabed), quartzite came from the sand (quartz).

If you are more budget conscious, then the honed black can be a good choice for the perimeter as it is a lower price point, but still durable. That allows you extra bucks to go all out on you island surface. I think he kitchen layout looks nice with it. But If you can afford a nice Quartz all around, then that would be a great option too. On the color of the island surface, that needs to be determined by the specific slab. Here is less variation slab to slab with man made products than natural stone.

I'm not an expert but I'd be concerned about leathered finish being more porous than polished.

I would do the same countertop all around but not the black. It's too disjointed to have different cabinets and different countertops.

a Ceasarstone white will be great with your cabinets, very durable and absolutely stunning

Whatever you choose, I'd skip the black countertop idea!

The slab of the Taj Mahal Quartzite is gorgeous! I think it works beautifully with the other elements in your kitchen including the cabinet color and flooring. Some of the beige undertones will simply add warmth to the kitchen.

You won't regret choosing quartzite! When we renovated our kitchen years ago, we chose Sea Pearl quartzite for island and kept the existing perimeter to save $$$s. I've ended up liking the contrast. I think it all comes down to personal preference. If you want to play it safe, go for the Taj Mahal all over. Either will look beautiful IMO! Good luck with your decision.

Karen I LOVE your countertop!! I was hoping to find the sea pearl in a leathered or honed finish but I never did. That's how I landed on the Taj Mahal

This is one of the images I found for inspiration. I didn't think it looked disjointed? But now with a couple comments against doing different countertops I'm getting nervous about that choice.

I have fantasy brown leathered quartzite in my kitchen and we love it! It's been very durable and we get a lot of comments on the texture.

Go with the quartzite!

I have white perimeter with grey quartz and a gray island with a marble top, I don't think it looks disjointed, in fact I love it. This forum is for advice, some you take some you leave. It's your home, do what you LOVE, I personally and obviously :) love your inspiration picture. Good luck! Going back to your original question about the slab you picked, I do feel like it is too beige. I have kids and decided I could live with the etches and everything that goes with marble, it is a beautiful piece of stone.

cer0819, thanks! I love your inspiration picture and do not think the 2 different counter tops look disjointed, but I do agree some prefer doing everything the same. Like Jennifer mentioned, you are going to get lots of different opinions on this one. It's going to be a tough decision, since I really think it is such a matter of personal preference.

I really like the warmer tones in the slab you selected. I think the warmer undertones will really complement your floors which seem to have some beige undertones in them, as well. What color are the cabinets? Looks like one of the cabinet doors is gray, while the other is an off white.

cer0819-Here is an article that explains the difference between quartzite and quartz. Unlike many think, quartzite is a very hard, durable, and natural stone. Hope this article helps explain the difference.

The inspiration pic has a much larger kitchen flooded with natural light with countertops and cabs in the same color tone (cool). Whatever you decide just make sure the cool or warm tones marry well.
