A scale diagram can be extremely helpful, and you can make one by measuring the walls of this room, and measuring the doors and passageways and their location on a wall. For instance, how wide is the wall behind the sofa (2nd photo) including the door, and how far from the column is the edge of the door. These measurements allow you to accurately draw out a floor plan.

Graph paper makes it easier, but you can draw out the measurements to a 1 foot equals 1 inch on paper. Every 3 inches of actual measurement equals 1/4 inch on paper. You'll probably need to tape several pages together for more layout space. Measure your furniture as well. On a separate piece of paper draw each piece to the same 1 foot equals 1 inch scale, label and cut them out. Move these pieces around on the floor plan to see how they affect traffic patterns and usage.

It bothers me that the mirrored decorations over the couch are not centered on the wall between the sconces. The sconces demand this centering.
