What about "painting" Fray Block all around the edges?

Thanks, Kathy. That seems like a good solution. It may take a while as I have 36 squares to do. It's such a pretty thing, I'd hate to see it go to carp. It has so much white on it, that it will definitely require washing at some point.

Just a thought!

Could you run a line of machine stitching just along the edge of the blanket stitch, possibly in black, (or even monofilament,). That would keep the main part of the block secure and if it ever did ravel, it would not go beyond that line of stitching.

The blocks look so well done that I think this may not have been the quilter's first quilt and she may have used this technique before.

Whatever you do, it will be a lovely quilt. Good luck.

The worst fraying is along the straight of grain with not much on the bias. That's why it is recommended to cut your binding on the bias.

Since the edges are curved, the fraying would probably not be too bad.

That being said, I agree with machine stitching.
