Figs are pretty tough as long as they are not exposed to freezing temperatures (and even then, they may die back down to the roots but resprout in the spring.) They typically will lose their leaves in the Fall, even indoors. I think this is necessary, but more experienced fig growers can confirm or deny. Hi there! I totally agree with Jason. Even indoors the figs will loose their leaves in the fall. I keep my potted fig trees in cooler part ( 14-15 C ) of my home to go dormant and cut back on watering, make sure the soil is moist but not soggy wet, they don't need sunlight without leaves and at the end of February I move them to my sunroom and they wake up and start breaking buds, as the amount of sunlight and warmth goes up. After that I give them as much sunshine as I can and water/feed them properly. That is what I do for them indoors. You will be amazed seeing them full of fruits as the time progresses. They grow fast if there is no fruit on them, with fruit the growth slows down.
