Crown imperial in pot

I received a large fritillaria imperialis from a friend who is moving. I've never grown these before, but I'd like to keep it in a container. Can anyone tell me if pot culture is a good idea? And please, tel me what I should do to keep it healthy. It's such a lovely flower, I really want to do a good job

Pretty much anything can be kept in a pot, given decent potting medium and regular feeding and watering. A caveat with crown imperials though - they are a plant which does better in groups and if you want to grow it as a specimen to be admired up close, it has a distinctly foxy whiff. Susceptible to lily beetles too.
