Can you show a picture? That may be more helpful. And if it IS root rot, you should be able to transport it without killing it easily. If you're going outside, I'd make the trip as quick as possible as to prevent stress. To figure out what's wrong, a pic would be beneficial :)

Have you up potted and root pruned the tree in 7 years? You need to prune it back to move so this is your chance. Trees in containers can get strangled by entangled roots if not root pruned periodically. recommended to root prune and balance prune ficus carica trees at least every 2 years.
