Leave them in the same container until spring and then pot up to a larger container.

You really need to bring in your trees now that the temps are down into the mid 30's.. That is to cold for my trees, but some will say it's ok. I just won't take that chance. So bring them inside and pray that you dont have any freeze damage to the tips..

I watch the temps and when it gets to around 45 for the low at night.. That is the time I bring them inside for the winter. Once spring arrives.. I'll wait unit the lows are 50 at night and higher for daytime to start acclimating them to the outside (sun ) since they will be stripped and or naked from the natural leaf loss.. You have to be careful that you don't burn them at this point because they don't have their natural protection ( foliage).

The yellowing and dropping of the leaves is natural for this time of the year. We also cut back on watering as well.. They are preparing for the winter dormancy period.

Leaves turning yellow from the bottom most leaf on the branch and then moving up is an indicator of hibernation during this time of year (It means other things if during the peak of the growing season).

My personal preference is to up pot a plant just before or right as dormancy breaks. For me that is the first week in March.
