Although I feel I do a fairly OK job with decorating, I know I play it safe. I generally go with neutrals and but my color in area rugs (middle eastern rugs, like chobi and oushak) and pillows and throws. When I look at some of the photos of rooms on this site, I see designers that know how to bring in color in lots of ways. I've read about a design rule where you choose a pattern, pick three colors from it, and use them through the room. Can anyone link me to a great article or book that really helps me understand how to push the boundaries a bit. My rooms are nice, but....boring, I think. TIA.
