I'm not sure I would put it on the floor--could get knocked over (ask me how I know, LOL).

Looks pretty heavy to be knocked over. Once one gets used to something in a place they avoid it. Probably best to start with console top and see if container works with theme.

For helping avoid accidents: Museum Putty (hardware store, craft store) for items on table or floor! Just put a little down, set item on top and wiggle it around slightly to "set" it in place.

Not sure I'd want to duplicate the kitchen, which is what the mirror does in that location. I've been scanning back through the pix and the transformation is amazing! Was looking to see if that table was ever behind the sofa. I think it might look good there with the bottle on top since it has some of the peacock blue-green in it. It would be replacing the current table and white tureen. No sticks or faux flowers though! Would the mirror work on the wall the fridge is against in the passage to the other formal living space? You could put a drop chandy there to reflect double.

How about a professionally done large family portrait instead of the mirror? I agree, the mirror reflecting the the kitchen is not the best!

I'd look around for a more substantial antique chest (same height, only with some drawers) in that spot instead of that particular table.

Like the bottle, but it is so large... how about trying it in the bath, next to the tub. It reminds me of water and the sea.

Thanks ladies, thats really what I was looking for..... suggestions of furniture. The table is a piece that I have had, it will not be long term but until I can purchase something else, my budget is getting tight. I'm having our supper club at the end of the month and I am excited about my peeps seeing my new space, just trying to get ready! Yes, I can place the mirror on the frig. wall, there is actually a mirror there now but I like the black one better. I have replaced the blue pillows in other space with green, the same green as the green JUG except pillows are a little darker but the color looks great with the peacock print. So in trying to fill this kitchen wall area I was trying to pull the green into the kitchen...NO I don't want to be tooooo matchy matchy. When I'm out I will look at other chests to replace the table I have there now. But if you have any other thoughts on what to put on this wall..would love to hear...what about the staggard shelving or a sattee....just wondering!!

Either of those could be useful if not too deep for that space. What would you put in them? Remember you'll have to style the glass one, but if you need a stash the doored one would be good. The glass one appeals to me because the other one looks a bit like a "mash-up" of two different pieces. I'm sure it isn't, but the glass one just looks more deliberate to me, and I see it as a sparkle spot when styled. They're both tall enough that you won't have to hang something above, just a few decorative items or even something like your pair of urns.

I love your mirror. I hope you can find somewhere to put it where it will fit. LOVE THE TRANSFORMATION! I'm curious, which things are new, which items have been removed from the space?

I will suggest to Houzz that they have a way to number photos posted. I get confused as to which photo or rug or whatever we are talking about! I wonder if it would also help to give alphas to each post? Another thought, in legislative drafts, each line is numbered in left margin. Third post, first line might therefore be 12. Photos and links would just fall in line with numbering.

OK the dark glass one for the area opposite kitchen, but the other in the bathroom holding towels, etc. with the green glass jar on top and shells on the ledge below.

@Tracy, I got the JCP drapes. The quality appears to be good but I didn't hang them to see if there were any noticeable flaws. the have more of a beige background than what I was expecting so I'm going to have to return them. i'm looking for something a little more vibrant and not quite as formal. did you decide to keep the ones you hung and posted. Is the background of the fabric a creamy white with pewter fleur-de-lis?

I have not committed to either of the above pieces just looking for a direction of size and design for that wall space. I will continue to browse. Hey Vicki, I'm keeping the curtains.. The ones I bought have a green trellis swirly design and the back ground color is cream. It's a shame you have to return they appeared very pretty!!

Oh yes, they are very pretty. I just have a slightly different vision in my head that I can't seem to fulfill. I'm not sure if you can really tell in picture but what do you think of this stripe for dinning room chairs. Color wise it matches, it has the same green as curtains. So what about stripe size?

I think the colors are a little too heavy for the room. I think you could go with a stripe, but the colors in this one seem a little too traditional to blend with the rest of the room. i don't have any alternatives though :(

I think that would be fine. It's far away enough from the living room and the dining area is a space unto itself.

I cant tell for sure but i Iam not sureit goes with the drape but maybe it is not necessary as they are far enough apart but it is a nice fabric!

I actually like your console table. It seems so often that I read about having pieces that are more open. I would, however, change what you have with it. The idea of a family photo, if you have one in the right size, is nice. Or perhaps one of a family farm? which would only occur to a farm girl :-) I would look around, starting with your own house, for accessories that are in better proportion with the console table. With your upcoming social event, why not make it easy on yourself by using one photo or print (on the wall), a vase of fresh flowers or a plant, and perhaps a nice bowl or a stack of books? You might like it so much you'll be done! I think the key is scale.

Also, I think the stripe on the chairs is fine, though my personal taste would be something lighter in color, perhaps just the gray-green and ivory. But you are in the room, and if those colors do not feel too dark, then I think you've made a good choice. I love stripes with prints, and these work well.

Too much olive in the stripe on my monitor. Try more teal and cream or ivory.

Thanks ladies..I have not recovered my DR chairs yet, not 100 % on fabric! What are your thoughts on these two fixtures? The drum, the size would be perfect I think but the crystal one is only 13 inches wide (21 inches long) if you look back at my photos is that width to small? I am not swagging we are going to move the electrical box.

How wide is the dining table? Chandy should be 1/2 that width measurement across. What is the budget for chandy?

Table is 44 inches wide and & budget $350.00

So a chandelier would be between 20-24 inches to be effective. Another rule of thumb I use (this is a personal preference) is to allow one bulb for each place at the table and use a dimmer switch.

Couple of suggestions but not a full design...you're too heavy on one side. Put china cab on opposite wall or opposite wherever your sofa ends up. If it doesn't fit there it's too big and has to go. :-).the bench at dining table is awkward. Would be better under window. Or orientate dining table the other way. You should also tie rooms together with an are rug for living room. And don't be skimpy on size. Good luck.

I think you might have too many chairs in this space. I would remove the rocker and put an end table next to the sofa (something narrow). Also, you really should try the area rug under the lounge furniture. It will provide a foundation and a cohesive element to that side of your room.

I think the room looks wonderful, except for the large lamp that partially blocks the girls' photos. I would suggest you find another location for this lamp so that the photos and entrance way are less crowded.
