I can't offer much on weather stations, but I bought a Taylor remote rain gauge about 15 yrs ago and its still functioning. I think that's pretty amazing for any electronic device, these days. Especially one , where part of it is out in the weather. Says a lot bout Taylor brand name.

I've thought I'd like to have a weather station, but I just rely on the Mesonet. Wish I had a Mesonet station closer to me , so I would not have to interpolate between two of them, but hey, can't get everything ya want :)

And I'm also just a couple miles from Will Rogers World Airport, which is not on the Mesonet but is source for a lot of NWS current conditions.

I've ordered the one above. It was on sale. Will let you all know how it works. The north Tulsa Mesonet is about 10-12 miles from me, Tulsa International is about 10 miles. I've meant to record actual rainfall, and always forget. Presumably I will find out if my take on prevailng winds is correct. Maybe I will find no difference between my yard and TIA or the Mesonet site. I often find significant differences in online numbers from other sources for this area, so I'm excited about this.

Yes, I see large differences in rain amounts between my Taylor rain gauge , the airport, and the nearest Mesonet stations.

I currently have a Davis Vantage Vue station. I've had it for six years and had been extremely reliable and would buy one again. I am using the WeatherCat software to Dl the data to my iMac and then UL to Weather Underground. I also have an inexpensive web cam that ULs the images to WU for the family to see how things are up here in the PNW.
