I would say so. But winter gives the young plants time to grow and time for us to plan the spring trading/buying frenzy!

And.......that's why we started leaves this past season, so we can have something to work with this winter. This week it's supposed to be -3 degrees here. Glad I started leaves!

Yolanda. We r in Idaho. That's -3 F they had forcasred. Fortunately this am they have adjusted it to 1 degree. Maybe I'll order some leaves!!!

Terrilou - I love your Ann. I picked a leaf from BJ at the Convention - and now I have a good size baby too. It only put one baby for me. Hope mine will send me a good bloom, just like yours!

Beautiful plants Terri and Rosie! Thanks! Ann is one that I've been wanting to get. I lack pinks. Got it on my wishlist Rosie! I've been transplanting babies from leaves and I'm up to like 138 with another tray of 44 leaves with babies to go! Scary!

Thanks for posting your pics. Hope we will get a big response - it's always fun looking at other peoples plants. Although I'm new here and perhaps it's been posted before but maybe in the future when we've all seen each other's favorites we can look at each others setups.

Sorry Rosie, I saw Ann and went gaga. Your Cora is beautiful too! She seems to be pretty consistently beautiful in all of the plants that I've seen. Must get one of those too!

And................it's supposed to be another -3F tonight again!

I've tried to get a standard white with large doubles and have been unsuccessful, getting off-whites and other colors mixed.

Now I guess I'll have to wait till spring to try again. Alas !

Err, there was snow on the wind today...there may be snow on the ground by next week. I'm in the South, this seems so wrong...however, I remember we'd usually have had a week off of school by now when I was a child (weather patterns differ now).

Hartogken, I thought you were talking of -3 Celcius, but it seems that you were speaking -3 F. That is different. I know it has been getting quite cold in western Canada. The city of Edmonton was to get to -30 C, which on any scale is bitterly cold. Idaho is not that far. Here's hoping for spring soon.

Leon, speaking of trading time, I do have a nice white. Not an off white but white. I would gift you a leaf in the spring if you wish. The only thing is I know it is an Optimara (came from Lowe's) BUT,,,,,,sadly no name. If that makes no difference to you then it is fine with me. (Just remind me!)

leon: getting the white you are after is almost as frustrating as raising desert rose {adenium} to flowering stage, and turns out the flower is pink instead of what you thought you would get … or getting an AV sport that isn't what was advertised … cuz you didn't get it in bloom …

This will be my first opportunity to trade Rosie. Can't wait to learn the ropes! Hope we can see lots of nice violets over the winter!

Large White - I like Ness' Viking Maiden, it is large, semidouble white and it is tough.

Very double...I can see some Russians are coming with large doubles, there is an older variety Gillian - leaves never grow flat - but the blossoms are super.

Regarding Ann - I heard peolpe are complaining that it is a very slow grower. Plus it costs a bundle. Leaves on a mature plant are spectacular - very dark with very contrasting variegation. But on ebay - it is $50 if you are lucky,,, can be 4 times more. Probably because the sellers - even if they get it - it is a miserably slow to put babies. Usually - new - it goes through the roof - in several months everybody sells it and prices go down.

If you want a good variegated pink - look for Ness' Candy Pink - gorgeous variety, grows itself and is very floriferous. Also hot pink blossoms. This one is a keeper.
