Are you going to use it primarily as a vacation rental or will this be your every day place?

I do not think there would be budget for a whole new kitchen but new appliances for sure drop the eating bar down to counter height with new counters and backsplash in quartz . It might be a bit of a hassle replacing the wall ovens but that can be handled for sure Maybe an induction range with of course a new exhaust system . I think if you hire a designer with a good eye for improving what you have it will be worth the money . The unit looks like it has been well cared for .

my initial feeling is 'too many lines'. if you dont mind the backsplash, change the counters and cabinet doors. if you like the cabinet doors, change the counter and consider just a painted wall for backsplash.

if this is just a weekend home, and you like the cabinet doors, consider removing some of the extra uppers. you really dont need a lot of storage in a vacation home and wall space would be nice.

Thank you for your excellent responses. This is my first post on Houzz and it took me a while to find the postings. The home will remain a vacation home but for resale value, I would like to keep it livable for a family. The floor plan is really perfect for it.

Given the architecture, it's a contemporary design and I am leaning a bit to transitional as I like a bit of a softer look.

After reading the suggestions, I was in a quandary as I was contemplating painting the upper maple cabinets white (maple really has yellowed but is probably what it is at this point) and adding a blue accent wall for pop of color, counters, appliances, sink and faucet, and, if I can afford it, backsplash. Perhaps painting is not really needed?

Thoughts on painting or just skip it and add a couple of glass door fronts and or remove some of the cabinets.

we have a vacation home, and did reduce the number of upper cabinets for a more spacious feeling. you just don't have to have the amount of stuff than you have at home, and it's so freeing.
