You need a few taller plants as well, grasses, flowering shrubs. Make sure you don't get anything that will grow larger than about 3'x3'

would a rock and paver pathway look good on the side of the home?

When you say you incorporated rock in the design I assume you mean the ground cover. Your bed will look better with some larger rock elements. 2-3 "boulders" about 12-18" high and 16-30" wide. Rocks should whatever is local to your area. Don't place them symmetrically, but somewhat randomly as you'd find in nature. Good luck.

Also, if you don't need that patch of grass you should consider giving your fire pit its own home with some pavers leading from the patio and matching rock ground cover.
