It's my fault for getting my hopes up.. It was my Chiang mai, which I got very excited to see it growing one in the first place as it's too cold down here for them to do well. It seems to be putting out growth nubs at every leaf jucntion on the plant... Wonder if that is normal?

Aurora basically covered it. Couldn't have said it better myself :) I will say some Hoyas grow better in a self-watering pot. My buotii came with two peduncles and they didn't do anything for a few months. I repotted it into a self-watering pot and boom, they budded up and bloomed beautifully. It's actually budding up right now, even with the cooler temps. And yes, I think your chiang mai is totally normal. I've seen pictures of some specimens and they grow into beasts! Either way, you can look forward to it blooming in spring and summer so that's something :)

Also, my H. imperialis aborted it's buds from a cold snap but it's budding again too. And my danumensis dropped growing peduncles just to grow more. Of course, they just had to bloom in the winter instead of summer. I'm in zone 9 central Florida. I'm not getting attached because I'm sure we will have another cold snap and they'll all abort again haha.

Tricky lil devils. :D I don't think it was the cold because we are just into Summer here. Fingers crossed it thinks about growing another one. Ah well, one of my kerrii's is flowering, so that's something.

It will bloom no doubt, it just needs to get its strength up. I'm pretty sure you will see blooms before summer is over. I don't know if this one blooms into the fall. Where do you live? And congrats on the kerrii blooms!

You want to hear a horror story...ask Jan about her lauterbachii. Might make you feel a wee bit better about losing a peduncle on Chiang Mai...not a lot better, but a wee bit.

We work so hard to get these beauties to bloom, and, yes, it is frustrating to have the setbacks. But, in the end, it is worth it.

Ahhh lauterbachii! I had one, it grew gang busters then randomly dropped dead. Thanks lauterbachii!!!
