Scents can be different to everyone so it doesn't surprise me the descriptors you found don't exactly match your experience. Instead of guessing do you remember how or where you got the plant? ( in person at an ABC store, Walmart, airport kiosk, etc.)

I wouldn't dispute the possibility of it looking like a Kauka Wilder. With graciousness and respect many in the Plumeria community have stated to others unless it can be confirmed it's asked to not self pronounce it the perceived named cultivar.

Thanks you for your reply. It makes sense that one wouldn't want to ascribe a name based on only a photograph. I don't own the plant that produced the flower in the photo. I took it at the resort where I stayed. I purchased a Kauka Wilder cutting from The Exotic Plumeria when I returned home. It flowered last spring but the blooms were small and the scent was faint. It didn't smell like coconuts at all but it was the cutting's first bloom so I will have to wait until this spring to see how it smells.

It can take a couple of bloom cycles for flowers to hold true to color. Also the size (but not shape) of the flower can change due to time of year/season, maturity of the plant, etc. For example I had a very early blooming inflo on a Black Ruby and they were small 1-2 inches and underwhelming. But by July the next series of inflos produced larger color rich 3+ inch blooms.
