Leave it alone. Your Meyer does not need the help of you, God, or nature to produce lemons.

Unfortunately, the above is not precisely true :-) Grown outdoors, citrus trees are naturally pollinated by bees, ensuring fertilization of the flowers. Unless you have a hive of bees living in your house, you might want to give it a hand to ensure good fruit set. Just take a clean, small paint brush, like used for water color painting, and gently dab in the center of each flower, moving from one to another until all have been touched.

Even with self-fertile plants like Meyer lemons, they still need some sort of physical action to effect fertilization, either by bees or other insect pollinators, birds or by wind. So God and/or Mother Nature most definitely do come into play and if not present to offer their services (via their workers), you need to step in to fill the void :-))

Sorry Gardengal... I would like to agree with you.. but then we would both be wrong. Citrus, not all, but most do not need bees to make fruit; they only need bees to make seeds. One of my projects that is surrounded by sugar cane (bees don't like cane) produces lemons that are seedless. No bees, no seeds; but lots of lemons. Bmetz...LOL

Considering John has thousands of lemon trees, I would tend to agree with him. That said, I have several Meyer lemon trees inside my house...no pollinators, no wind....lots of tiny lemons.

I have limited experience as I've only had my Meyer for a few months, but I've never tried to hand pollinate it and it's making little baby lemons anyway these days, in the house. I would say you do not need to intervene.
