In your den, I'd consider tall drapery to add another layer. I do not care for the pink accents with the wall color. So I would choose a metallic for pillows and lampshade to pick up that in the coffee table. I would de-clutter the mantle and choose a few strong pieces to display there. Finally, you have lots of natural light... a big-arse plant!

I think your informal dining space is on target. For the "dead space," would you use a buffet for entertaining there? A bar? How do you entertain--that's what I would consider in a space between the kitchen and a dining space. Maybe a tall, multifunctional piece, or open shelving.

I feel the coffee table is too large for the room and too tall. Perhaps a smaller one would look better. If you do that then add a piece of narrow in depth and long in length like a sofa table to balance out the room. It looks too heavy on the sofa side and not enough on the tv side. I don't see any evidence of much clutter, maybe just remove all the smalls and let the art stand alone. I'd like to see the art leaning on the mantle rather than have it higher, that way the view of the art and windows to each side would be more in line as the eye gets confused with the different heights.

In the den the rug strikes me as being a bit off, it goes with your sofa but the wood floor has such a pleasant warm tone but the rug is cool (at least on my monitor), I'd find something a bit more colorful with warmish tones. Agreed the coffee table is too tall, I would go smaller and darker with it. I like the idea of a buffet or bar in that dead space with the mask painting, and also like your idea of the banquette in the other space.

Do you have any need for bookshelves or an small writing desk for the spot outside of the kitchen? I have both of those just off of my kitchen, use them a lot for cookbooks and looking up recipes and "how to" videos on my laptop.

PLEASE tell me the brand and name of the rug in the first picture! It is what I need and want! (I'd like the dog in the second picture as well, but I suppose he will have to stay with you.)

Do you have enough countertop in the kitchen? That space below the chandelier seems to need a table but an island may work as well. Can you put a floor plan up showing the flow of the rooms?

JB, thank you anyway but I was just the other day informed of a rug store only 30 miles from me that has tons and tons of area rugs and I went there and came home with 2 rugs - decided to keep them both - one for the l/r and one for the d/r. (Although your rug would have perfect for my d/r, I did find one to my liking - a bit darker in color.) Merry Christmas to me :)
