Ok to mix patterns?

I am considering this fabric for draperies in my living room. The color palette I am using has sea glass, ivory and beige with wood and polished nickel accents. My accent chair has a geometric pattern and the rug has some flowers as shown in the pics. Does the fabric for the drapes clash with the chair? Would it look well? I'm nervous about mixing patterns.

I think it would be fine. Maybe make a throw pillow or two for the white sofa with the same fabric. Your place looks lovely so you should go with your instinct!! Hopefully decorators will weigh in as they have a trained eye for this type of thing. Good luck!

I love what you've done so far! Do you have curtains rods up already? If so, you could drape the fabric fabric over them and then take pictures...that helps me decide on curtains. If no rods are up, if you can have someone hold up the fabric for you that helps too.

Lindsay, I don't have rods yet, I didn't want curtains but my husband says he feels like he's in a fish bowl surrounded by windows with no curtains, I love the no drapery clean look but want him to be happy.

I think these will look nice together. Some bigger textures in throw blankets/pillows would help tie it together, like large cable knits or shaggy stuff

I think the color palette is lovely but drapes would benefit from a change in scale of pattern. Right now the scale is so similar to your armchair, which will apparently be right up against the drapes. What if you did either a solid seaglass with ivory grosgrain trim or else a larger scale of the pattern you propose?

Throw in a couple of deeper colours, like the navy in pillows in pic above, brings it to life

Wonder if behind chair where there's no art -- why not a semi-sheer? like Irene said, a bit deeper for lively contrast, especially if you like the chair and its shape, etc....

and your pattern in part of curtain - trim at edges, or ....

Everdebz I like the look of the semi-sheer but we are installing the curtains for privacy, I actually did not want any drapery but my husband insists...

Its all about scale you can do many prints but each print should be larger or smaller than each other...the two prints in your image of chair fabric and fabric roll are to close in scale and pattern..look for a subtle stripe or zebra print maybe a larger print in your beautiful subtle colors in a floral.....choose one larger or smaller than your chair print.

I love your rug where's it from please and name ?

Home Interiors with ease, thank you! The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that I really should use either a solid or a larger print, I am thinking about the solid in the seagrass shade. I had actually purchased this fabric for the breakfast tea and began considering using it throughout but after reading all of your kind comments and thinking about it, I don't like the small on small print idea.

Alia Abedlhamid, thank you. The rug is by Nourison and the collection is Luminence, I am not very sure about the specific model number but if you go to their website it should be easy to find once you find the collection. Good luck! I absolutely love it too...

I assume you don't need blackout. What about those functional/elegant what are they called? Others like it might be better, but PRunway is coming gotta go!

I would do a solid drapery with a very wide accent band on leading edge of drapery..your room is just gorgeous and this would give it a very finished sophisticated look. You have created such a beautiful space! Love it!

something like this...of course in your soft palette would be scrumptious!!! :))

Everdebz the Luminnetes are nice but they cover much more that I'd like. I actually have some horizontal roman shades with this see through material by Hunter Douglas and while you can still see through it diminishes a lot the light that comes through the window. I love the bright and airy concept and if it was up to me I would not install any draperies but my husband says that he feels in a fish bowl with so many windows around without any privacy.

Home Interiors with Ease: I love that concept! Having the pattern strip at the edge on a solid fabric is a good way of getting some pattern without completely committing to it. I specifically like the designs of 3rd pic you posted.

Trying here on commercial - during day could there be more sheer - and night with lamps on, thicker?

.... commercial: so see-through roman shades were fine for day, but not for night..... ? You took them down permanently?

Does the trim go only on the inner end of the curtain, or does it go on both sides of the curtain? It looks lovely!

It is only on the the leading edge...one side.
