The counter fabricator should have installed a filler piece at the edge to hide that gap. Considering that the fabricator must have been on-site to take measurements, this is an oversight on his part. He may be able to fix it by discreetly gluing in a filler piece in that spot.

The tall cabinetry should have been deeper than the counter by a little, that would have been the correct way to do it,

No way to fix this and have the top look 100%. How this could happen is difficult to figure out. This might happen if the cabinetry was changed after the top was templated or if the templater's notes were misunderstood by the fabricator. One scenario would be the customer's fault and one the countertop company's. Hope this doesn't end up with finger pointing from both sides.

The kitchen was being redone - I updated the cabinets only with paint but the countertop was replaced. I guess that is why this happened?

The entire corner "turn" to the fridge or ovens was cut too short. This means it is a big goof, and should be REPLACED in total, by either the person who created the error via the template, or by the fabricator of the top........who shorted the top. Period!!! and end of discussion you hope: )
