Bustani Plant Farm

It has just occurred to me that since I no longer live in OKC (now in Lubbock, TX), one of my favorite places to plant shop, Bustani, will no longer be available to me. I am devastated to learn that they also do not ship plants (literally sobbing ugly cry mess, my husband just blankly stared at me and shook his head). After taking an evening to come up with every possible option to visit Stillwater, sulk about the few weak options I may or may not have, and finely gather my wits, I thought I would ask you fellow gardeners that visit Texas to see if you know of any cool nurseries where I might be able to find some "Bustani-esk" plants? I frequent the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area, Amarillo, San Angelo, and of course Lubbock. Any help would be much appreciated!

Either do what I do and drive to Bustanii (and usually meet up with area friends) or ask them to go (I've done this) with your shopping list and they ship to you (lol)..if desperate.

I managed to go both spring and fall this year, to the tune of about $500 of damages

I am in Tx and I go to spring fling usually in April. I do not know what type of place you are talking about but the older lady at red riding nursery in Lubbock is a sweetheart to visit with and really a top notch place

I have managed to never go to Bustani so far. I live in OKC. I used to live in Tulsa, and have some GREAT gardening friends there. They make an annual trip to Bustani every spring, and I am always invited.

But, honestly, Bustani is to expensive for me. I garden with freebies, exchanges, and mostly perennials. I also grow a lot from seed. Bustani has some awesome annuals, but frankly I don't have annual money.

Kim, you would love to see what they have, but might be like me, and feel like their plants are out of your reach.

Monica, Bustani really isn't that expensive until you get umm many plants, that's the problem, 3.50 to 7.50 adds up when you're shoving things right and left into the cart. I buy almost exclusively perennials there. They certainly have those besides the tropicals.

The plants are much bigger than mail-order and I think more reasonably priced than my local nurseries. And no...I don't work for Bustani. Though, if I were closer, I might try to get a job there :)

I love to go to nurseries and look. However, I almost never buy anything. I cant bring myself to pay so much for so little. Its really instant gratification but I would rather spend the same amount on seeds and soil. Well I have more time to do that

I like to go to my local Nursery when they put these plants on half price . I have fantasized about working for the nursery too but I'm afraid I'm a little old for that. I get Bustani's Facebook page. Someday I'm going there!

Yes, it's worth just looking at their plantings esp, if you live a bit closer than me (takes me 3.5 hours to get there).
