Frosted window film?

Need light filtering.

I think that might do it.

Having a odd-shaped window is fun, but more challenging to shade. Avanti blinds will make you a custom one, not sure how much it will be.

there are films that have UV protection and can be custom cut to fit any shaped windows.

There is no need to frost the glass and loose the sky view. Applied tints are the way to go. We use them all of time in the hot Oklahoma sun on our commerical projects.

Dytecture and Oellien Design are right, the UV levels on the stronger protection films are quite high with little loss of visibility. Frosted is another effect altogether and some people might choose that.

I understand what you are going thru, I have a window and I have the same problem and I can't find anyone to install film because the window is real big.. See mine

Go to an art supply store or craft store. Find some heavy paper or dense cloth that blocks light and is favorable to your taste. If you find something that works, hold it up to the sun to see how well it blocks the light. while at the store get some spray contact adhesive. This stuff works great but there is a trick to using it. Somehow get the size of the material you want to use to the shape of the window - use cardboard to make a template - cut the material to size. Spray the window - and only the window - you may want to tape off where you do not want any of the adhesive to be - it can be a mess to get off. So spray the window and the glass side of the material - do the material outside if possible - fumes are bad and the stuff will start a fire easily so be careful. No Smoking!!! Now for the hard part - you have to wait for the adhesive to dry and when it does it gets really tacky. If a portion of the material comes into contact with the window (the glue on the window) it will stick. So carefully place the material to the window and lightly rub the material to the glass, lightly! When you get the materia on the glass in the manner you want you can press harder to set the adhesive on the material to the adhesive on the glass, you do not have to rub hard, it will want to stick. When all is lightly pressed to the glass you are done. If you are taping something on the area around the window use blue tape - it sticks well but is made to release on painted surfaces. I hope I am clear enough, sometimes I go on.

If the glass is really big you could turn it into an art project and use different colors or textures of material. If this is a rental and you need t get the material off the glass it will come off with a razor blade. The adhesive will rub into a large ball if you rub your fingers over the surface you want the adhesive removed.

I think the answer for this dilemma is to set a custom made sculpture in front of the window and allow the light to be reflected out from behind it...hence controlling the light and letting it work for you instead of against you.

Be careful using adhesives on such a heated window...It may stick permanently, and using paper products may be a fire hazard. This window looks like it could act as a magnifying glass.

The only issue becomes, "what kind of wall sculpture"? An Abstract Sun, I have done Lightning Sculptures before, but that won't work here...What may work is a sculpture of Sun coming out from behind a cloud...

As large as this window appears, it would add such a dramatic effect. I live for situations like this... Here is an example of one of my lighted Wall sculptures... In your case, the light is provided already...Perfect.

I did this (very) quick rendering of a possible wall sculpture. The light would poke through cuts in the steel to define the clouds and also from behind to allow more light into the room and highlight the sculpture.

Notice the window shape behind the image.

Mariah, your window is no trouble and can be installed in one piece as long as your window is not larger than 6 feet in both directions (a really big window!)

Solaris... My window is the length of my sliding door.. You can see a picture I posted before, above is a picture.

It doesn't look too big based on the size of a normal door. It should be no problem for a professional. If I were a bit closer I'd get you taken care of but the dealers in the Vista network are the best in the country.

look for a local stained glass artist...they can add beautiful designs and help defuse the sunlight. here is an odd shaped one I made...
