It is winter here but I live in a mild 10 zone so I sometimes get a hoya to flower . My little sunrise had one open yesterday. I'll take a pic later. Very few here now tho.

Hi Adam, Are you in Australia too?

    Yep, Mandurah WA

I'm down in Tas, guess we have different temperature issues with growing Hoyas :D , Although we both have quarantine issues with getting plants sent to our states. I have the same ones as you do above, except my obovata isn't flowering (come on obovata, you are letting the team down!) What other hoyas do you have?

Yeah, Tas and WA are both pretty insular. My climate isn't too bad for a lot of hoyas, but the tropical ones just go to pieces in winter. Literally. If i could keep them under a plastic roof they might be ok. Atm I have carnosa, krimson queen, krimson princess, krinkle 8, compacta, kerrii albomarginata, obovata, australis, pubicalyx black dragon and silver pink, bella, fungii, engleri, sheppardii, cumingiana santos outside all year and pachyclada, dischorensis, lacunosa, Heuschkeliana and inconspicua wintered indoors.

Wait, your tropical hoyas suffer in Winter in WA? You have a Winter in Western Australia? Am i missing something??? (awkward) :D

My tropical Hoyas take a dive in Winter here. From what I can see from your photos you have a green house?

I did a quick count and I have over 40 hoya, but there are a few double ups and some I bought knowing they might die..

You have black dragon? I didn't know it was in Aus yet?

I have a pergola with shade cloth along the side of the house where I grow all my hoyas and bromeliads. The winters aren't too cold really, but they are wet and that's a bad combo for lots of tropicals.

A friend picked my up the Black Dragons off of gumtree. They were only tiny when I got them, but are growing nicely now. No buds yet though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought black dragon had solid lime color leaves. No flecks at all I read somewhere.

I think you're right. It might be red buttons, I'm not fussed as long as it's DARK!
