What about a magnolia leaf wreath? So southern. A grapevine wreath would look nice perhaps with a cluster of red, white, and blue stars to coordinate with your flag. Another suggestion is a winter berry wreath with a blue ribbon. You could even use your July 4th decorations in honor of inauguration. A very, very cute house.

No to shutters.

A. You don't need them under that porch roof (so they'd look odd)

B. In their normal state (open) the entire front wall would be virtually solid window/shutter from one end to the other, covering all the clapboards in one big dark stripe.
